Foreign students in Russia were given the opportunity to work in their free time without a special permit and patent. The corresponding Federal law came into force on August 5, the Ministry of science and higher education of Russia reported.

The authors of the law were members of the Federation Council and state Duma deputies, led by speakers Valentina Matvienko and Vyacheslav Volodin.

Now foreign full-time students will be able to earn money legally. All that is required for foreigners to conclude an employment or civil contract with an employer is to provide a certificate from the educational institution that they are actually studying in Russia. In this case there is a condition: The University must have state accreditation.

Students are allowed to work in any free time, including outside of the subject of Russia, on the territory of which they study.

If the student has ceased to be such — completed training or stopped it, then the employment contract or document for the performance of works or services must also be terminated. The company is quite legally able to hire not a student, but a certified specialist.

Previously, foreign students could only work in Russia during vacations or in their free time in educational organizations, business companies or partnerships established by the universities where they study without a corresponding permit.

According to the Ministry of education and science, about 241 thousand foreign students study at universities in Russia. More than 27 thousand of them are from Turkmenistan.
