Representatives from the Education and Culture Section of the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan attended a karate competition in the city of Anau. This was reported on the Embassy’s social media channels.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the Karate Federation of Turkmenistan, Velmyrat Gurbanmuradov; Vice-Chairman Ilmurad Shanepesov; Yashuzak Mametnazarov, a recipient of an award from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan; and Davut Nazmuradov, a silver medalist at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

Representatives from the Japanese side also had the opportunity to attend the competitions. The energy, determination, and enthusiasm of the participants made a strong impression on them.

Such meetings help strengthen friendly ties between Turkmenistan and Japan, as well as foster cooperation in the realms of sports and cultural exchange, the source notes.
