Today, a regional conference on methane kicked off in Ashgabat, themed "From Methane Data to Action: Strengthening Methane Emissions Management, Mobilizing Capital, and Fostering Regional Cooperation in Central Asia."

The conference is organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) within the framework of the project "Capacity Building for Methane Emission Reductions in Central Asia" (CA CBMER), which focuses on the oil and gas sector.
Around 80 delegates from Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—as well as from observer states Azerbaijan and Mongolia, are taking part in the forum.
Participants include heads of relevant ministries and agencies in the fields of environment, climate, and energy; leading national oil and gas companies—"KazMunayGas”, “Uzbekneftegaz”, “SOCAR”, “Turkmengaz”, and “Turkmennebit”; international energy corporations operating in Turkmenistan; as well as representatives from international organizations, diplomatic missions, research institutes, and NGOs.
