Turkmenistan’s youth national team lost to Benin in a fifth-round match of the preliminary stage of the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, currently taking place in Azerbaijan. The match, held in Govsan, ended with a score of 4–1, according to the FIFA website.
The Turkmenistan youth team won two of five matches in the preliminary stage. Earlier, Aziz Kambarov's team won victories over Hong Kong (2:1) and the Cook Islands (3:1), but lost to the national teams of Italy (1:5) and Qatar (0:4).
In the second stage, the teams will play in a playoff format.
