Trump ordered a 90% reduction in the mosquito population in Washington by 2028

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order requiring federal agencies to reduce populations of Asian tiger mosquitoes, yellow fever mosquitoes, and other invasive species in the US capital by 90% by 2028. The document has been published on the official White House website.

In addition, the decree sets a goal of reducing the tick population in Washington by 50%. A period of 60 days from the date of the document's signing is allotted for the development and practical implementation of the corresponding strategy.

Responsibility for carrying out the directive is assigned to the Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of Agriculture, and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The text of the decree emphasizes that the program must rely primarily on non-chemical pest control methods, including the use of modern biotechnologies.
