Energy sector representatives at a forum in Dubai showed interest in OGT 2026 in Ashgabat

The GOTECH 2026 conference is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from September 29 to October 1, bringing together energy company executives, technology developers, engineers, and experts to discuss technological changes in the global energy sector.

The forum focuses on artificial intelligence, digitalization, increasing production efficiency, sustainable development, carbon emissions management, and workforce training. Dragon Oil is the event host and also a Diamond Partner of the OGT 2026 conference.

Participants in GOTECH include Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dragon Oil; Abdulkarim Ahmed Al Mazmi, CEO of the company; Jennifer Miskimins, 2026 President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE); Carol Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy; and Ismadi bin Ismail, CEO of PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan). Executives from SLB and other international energy and technology companies are also participating in the forum.

One of the key themes was the shift of artificial intelligence and digital technologies from experimental use to addressing operational tasks. Energy companies are leveraging data analytics, automation, and digital tools to enhance extraction efficiency, equipment reliability, safety, and the quality of decision-making. Alongside exploration, production, and infrastructure development, environmental issues are being discussed: reducing methane emissions, improving energy efficiency, managing carbon emissions, and technologies for carbon capture, utilization, and storage.

The role of Central Asia and the CIS region holds a special place in the program. The leadership plenary session, "The CIS as an Emerging Center of Energy Growth," focuses on the region's changing position in international energy markets. Representatives from PETRONAS Turkmenistan, Dragon Oil Turkmenistan, and other international companies are participating in it. For Turkmenistan, these issues are linked to the development of vast natural gas reserves and the expansion of international cooperation in the areas of technology, infrastructure, gas processing, and environmental solutions.

PETRONAS is one of Turkmenistan’s long-standing international partners in the energy sector; cooperation with other global companies is developing across various segments of the industry.

Participants in the Dubai forum also exchanged views on the upcoming 31st International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2026," scheduled to take place in Ashgabat on October 21–23. Representatives of the international energy community expressed interest in continuing the professional dialogue in the Turkmen capital.

The OGT 2026 agenda will cover the further development of the Galkynysh gas field, the TAPI gas pipeline project, opportunities for developing offshore Caspian fields, gas processing and petrochemistry, regional energy connectivity, digitalization and artificial intelligence, methane emission reduction, and international investment cooperation.
