The film “Mata”—a French psychological spy thriller directed by Rachel Lang—has become available to users of the streaming platform Belet.

The film had its world premiere on May 27, 2026, in cinemas across France and Belgium, with the support of distributor Warner Bros. France.

"Mata" is the third feature film by Rachel Lang, who previously directed the drama "Our Men" (screened at the Cannes Film Festival) and the debut comedy "Baden Baden" (presented at the Berlinale). This time, the director turned to the spy thriller genre while retaining the interest in the psychological depth of characters that is characteristic of her films.

At the center of the story is Mata, an operative with the Action Division of France's General Directorate for External Security (DGSE). During a covert operation in Niger, she is wounded and loses contact with her partner, Antoine, who is taken prisoner. Upon returning to France, the protagonist transfers to an internal counter-intelligence unit and takes on an investigation in the Alps that she believes is linked to events in Africa. Convinced that her superiors are withholding the truth, Mata launches her own investigation, operating outside her official authority.

The main role in the film was played by actress Hey Aidara, known to viewers from the film “C'est la vie!” She was accompanied by Melanie Laurent (“Inglourious Basterds”), Josephine Japy and Raphael Personnaz. The duration of the film is 1 hour 38 minutes, the music for the film was written by composer Yuksek.
