On September 19, 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, together with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, organized a friendly football match among representatives of embassies accredited in the country.

The event is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and the motto for 2026: "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses."

Before the match began, the participants were briefed on Turkmenistan’s achievements over its 35 years of independence across key economic sectors, as well as in the social and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The country’s foreign policy—based on the principles of permanent neutrality, friendliness, and equal cooperation—was presented separately. Attendees were also briefed on the strategy for developing physical education, grassroots sports, and elite sports, as well as for promoting a healthy lifestyle.

According to the organizers, the match took place in a friendly atmosphere. They note that such events foster sports diplomacy and strengthen ties among members of the diplomatic corps.
