On July 16, schoolchildren from Turkmenistan took part in the closing ceremony of the "Children of the Commonwealth" forum, which was held in Belarus for 9 days.
Turkmen children, among participants from eight CIS countries, got acquainted with Belarus, visited memorial sites and participated in high-level meetings, presented the culture of their countries and found new friends.
During the forum, each delegation had the opportunity to present their country; young participants met with republican ministers, university rectors, famous athletes, cultural figures, the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences, and heads of youth organizations of Belarus.
The schoolchildren visited the "Khatyn" and "Partisan Coast" memorials, the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, got acquainted with the nature and history of Belarus in the "Narochansky" national park and the "Nanosy" ethnocultural complex, and wrote programs for robots in the National Children's Technopark.
Each day of the forum was covered by leading Belarusian media outlets; in interviews, children noted the hospitality and kindness of the people of Belarus, their interest in the history and life of other Commonwealth countries, and their joy in finding new friends.
The event was organized by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States, as reported on the website of the CIS Executive Committee.
