Chairman of the Turkmenistan Tennis Federation (TTF), Vice President of the Asian Tennis Federation Eziz Dovletov discussed with President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) David Haggerty the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the organizations, the online newspaper "Golden Age" reported.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament in London.
The prerequisite for deepening cooperation was the visit of the head of the ITF to Ashgabat in March last year. Then David Haggerty, together with the head of the Asian Tennis Federation Yuri Polsky, visited Turkmenistan for the first time and was received by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Haggerty presented the head of Turkmenistan with a certificate for his contribution to the development of tennis in the country.
In the same year, the Tennis Complex of the Ashgabat Olympic village received the status of “Training Center of the Asian Region” from the Asian Tennis Federation.
The Memorandum is expected to record specific steps to integrate Turkmen athletes into world tennis, increase the number of professional coaches in Turkmenistan and exchange specialists with international experts.
