President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on the abolition of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of the country, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The decision was made in order to improve the management of the country's transport and communications complex.
According to the document, three new ministries are being created on the basis of the structures subordinate to the abolished agency: railway transport, communications and automobile transport. They will become the legal successors of the corresponding agencies "Türkmendemirýollary", "Türkmenaragatnaşyk" and "Türkmenawtoulaglary".
In addition, the "Türkmenhowaýollary" Agency will be transformed into the "Türkmenhowaýollary" State Service, and the "Türkmendeňizderýaýollary" Agency will be transformed into the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan.
The decree defines the management structure of the new departments. The Minister of Railway Transport and the Minister of Automobile Transport will have two deputies each, and the Minister of Communications will have three deputies. The chairmen of both government services will also have two deputies each.
New ministries and government agencies, together with relevant departments, must prepare regulations on their activities, draft structures of central offices and staffing schedules, as well as proposals for changing legislation within a month.
The decree was signed during an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, at which the results of work for the first half of 2025 were summed up.
