The Turkmen delegation visited Moscow within the framework of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) projects.

The visit took place from June 15 to 22 and was aimed at studying the experience of switching to natural refrigerants and improving energy efficiency in light of the reduction in the consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) within the framework of the implementation of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

As reported by “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the delegation included representatives of the ministries of environmental protection, energy, construction and architecture, trade and foreign economic relations, as well as the State Customs Service, the Main State Service "Turkmenstandartlary", the State Concern "Turkmenhimiya", the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Y. Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and enterprises of the refrigeration industry.

As is known, Turkmenistan is an active participant in international activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat global climate change. In 2020, the country joined the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The amendment provides for a phased reduction in the consumption of HFCs - synthetic greenhouse gases with a high global warming potential, which are used in many areas of economic activity, including the refrigeration industry.

UNIDO is implementing projects in Turkmenistan to implement the Kigali Amendment Implementation Plan (KIP) and improve energy efficiency.

During their visit, representatives of the Turkmen delegation visited large enterprises and refrigeration facilities using natural refrigerants.

On the third day, they also took part in the conference “Energy Efficiency of Refrigeration Systems in Light of the Phase-Out of Hydrofluorocarbons”.

The program of the visit of the delegation from Turkmenistan also included training sessions on the safe handling of natural refrigerants, held at the Scientific and Educational Center "Academy of CryoFrost". At the end of the training, the participants got acquainted with the operation of the refrigeration system on natural refrigerants at the distribution center "Globus" in the city of Pushkino, Moscow Region.

On the last day of the visit, specialists from Turkmen enterprises who took part in the training were awarded certificates of completion of the training.
