The sowing ceremony was held in compliance with national traditions. Honorary elders, after praying for the well-being of the country and the people, symbolically planted the first seeds, after which the baton was taken up by machine operators. Cotton growing remains one of the priority areas of the agricultural sector of Turkmenistan, an important export item and the basis of the country's textile industry.
