Kazakhstan is interested in expanding strategic partnership with Turkmenistan

At a meeting with Turkmen Ambassador Batyr Rejepov, Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu stated Astana's interest in expanding and deepening strategic partnership with Ashgabat, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the schedule of events planned for 2025 in bilateral and multilateral formats. They also discussed current issues of cooperation in the political, trade and economic, transit and transport, and energy spheres.

Batyr Rejepov conveyed an official invitation to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on behalf of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to attend the International Forum of Peace and Trust, which will be held in Ashgabat on December 12, 2025.

It should be noted that the forum is also dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. The event is planned with the participation of heads of state and heads of international organizations.

Previously, invitations to participate in the forum were also received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Italian President Sergio Mattarello, Chinese President Xi Jinping, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, head of Tatarstan as part of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Prince Albert II of Monaco, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zeid Al Nahyan and Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie.

Turkmenistan Neutrality Day was established in honor of the unanimous adoption of a special resolution on the country's permanent neutrality by the UN General Assembly on December 12, 1995. In 2017, at the initiative of Ashgabat, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality.
