An excessive desire for “ideal” parenting can lead to emotional burnout and, as a result, a loss of control over the child’s behavior. This conclusion was made by researchers from the Ohio State College of Nursing (USA), gazeta.ru reports.

According to scientists, the desire of parents to give their child the best - useful leisure, quality education and the benefits of life - is quite natural. However, it is important not to turn this concern into an obsession.
Unrealistic expectations, both from yourself and from the child, can lead to burnout.

Feeling exhausted, parents are unable to adhere to the previously established “correct” daily routine. Growing irritation leads to emotional outbursts and aggression towards the child.

Experts note that such parenting mistakes worsen children's behavior and can have long-term negative consequences for their mental health.

The situation can be aggravated by the influence of social networks, where an unrealistic “ideal” image of a family that does not correspond to reality is often promoted.

Instead of tightening control over children, parents are encouraged to use “positive strategies” to prevent burnout. These strategies include prioritizing, actively listening to the child, and setting realistic expectations.
