The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium held a meeting with a group of Chinese students who arrived in Brussels to participate in a summer educational program, the diplomatic mission reported.
The group of 27 people, representing nine different provinces of the PRC, consisted of high school and first-year students from leading Chinese educational institutions.
Palvanov introduced the young guests to the fundamentals of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, emphasizing the central role of the country's permanent neutrality. Particular attention was paid to the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) held in Avaza, as well as the significance of 2025, declared the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The diplomat spoke about Turkmenistan's peacekeeping role in the region and efforts to promote transport diplomacy. He noted the country's strategic importance as a link between the East and the West, highlighted modern areas of partnership with the European Union and the development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and China.
The ambassador reminded the students of Turkmenistan's historical role in the functioning of the Great Silk Road. Caravan routes connecting China and Europe passed through cities such as Merv, Amul, Sarahs and Dehistan. According to him, today Turkmenistan continues to fulfill this mission, serving as a reliable transit hub in Eurasia.
During the meeting, an exposition of the cultural and historical heritage of Turkmenistan was presented, including national products, traditional jewelry, embroidery and elements of national clothing. As a sign of friendship, each student received a traditional Turkmen skullcap - tahya.
The event was held in the format of a lively dialogue: students asked questions about diplomacy, international relations, history and modern life in Turkmenistan.
