The Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued official permits for the operation of unmanned aerial taxis for the first time, pravilamag.ru reports with reference to the South China Morning Post.
Two companies, EHang Holdings and Hefei Hey Airlines, have been granted licenses, allowing them to use drones to provide commercial passenger services, including city tours. The move could be a powerful catalyst for the commercial air taxi industry in China.
According to experts from China's largest investment bank Citic Securities: "We believe that low-altitude tourism will be the start of this new business. EHang's city tours can accelerate the development of this industry."
It is worth noting that in recent months, the Chinese government has taken a series of measures to stimulate the development of a low-altitude economy, which includes areas such as cargo delivery drones, airships and flying cars.
