Turkmenistan is preparing to become a member of the electronic permit system of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG), which will contribute to the deepening of regional integration between the Turkic states. This was stated by the Secretary General of the OTG at the 10th meeting of the heads of customs services of the member countries of the organization, Trend reports.

According to the Secretary General, two important associations were created last year: the Union of Associations of International Road Carriers in the Turkic Region “YURTA” and the Alliance of Logistics Centers and Cargo Carriers of the Turkic States. These steps are aimed at simplifying trade processes between the member countries.

Omuraliev emphasized the importance of addressing pressing issues, including rising transport costs and the complexity of customs procedures, to ensure the economic sustainability of the region. In accordance with the strategic document “Vision of the Turkic World – 2040”, the organization is working to simplify customs and trade processes along the Middle Corridor.

One of the significant achievements was the successful implementation of the TIR electronic system between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in cooperation with UNICEF in 2022. The amalgamated territorial community strives to make its region a leader in the implementation of the electronic TIR system.
