Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit to participate in the international forum “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development”. The forum, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fragi, will be held on October 11. Khachaturyan’s visit is aimed at strengthening cultural and economic ties between Armenia and Turkmenistan.
As reported by Armenpress, the plane of the Armenian President landed at the Ashgabat International Airport, where he was met by Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency Mammetkhan Chakyev. The delegation also includes Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan.
The forum will bring together the presidents of more than 10 states, as well as the heads of international organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Turkic Council, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and UNESCO. The event will discuss key issues of cooperation between countries and cultures, as well as current topics that contribute to the strengthening of international ties and the development of sustainable relations.
The forum program includes a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to Magtymguly Fragi, an official opening, plenary sessions and discussions, as well as an official dinner in honor of the heads of delegations.
During the visit of the President of Armenia, bilateral meetings with leaders of other states are also planned, including a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on October 12.
