Ashgabat and Bishkek considered issues of extending electricity supplies

From May 3 to 6, negotiations were held in Ashgabat between representatives of the Ministries of Energy of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic was headed by the General Director of NES of Kyrgyzstan OJSC Altynbek Rysbekov, reported the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meetings, the parties noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of Turkmen-Kyrgyz relations in the energy sector. The issue of extending the contract for the supply of electricity from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan in 2025 on mutually beneficial terms was considered.

Altynbek Rysbekov informed about the upcoming International Energy Forum in Vienna in June, dedicated to the investment potential of Kyrgyzstan. The event is organized with the support of the World Bank and the Austrian government. The Turkmen side was invited to take part in the forum.

The ministries of the two countries confirmed their intention to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, maintain regular contacts and provide mutual assistance.

It was previously reported that in 2024, Kyrgyzstan intends to import 1,7 billion kWh of electricity from Turkmenistan.
