The Turkmenistan national football team is preparing for important qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup. On March 14, the team of head coach Mergen Orazov will play a control game with Kazakhstan. This meeting will be held behind closed doors by agreement of the parties, the press service of the national team reports.
Before this, on March 12, Turkmen football players will go to training camps in the UAE, where they will begin preparations for the two upcoming qualifying games.
Let us remind that on March 21, the Turkmenistan national team will meet with the Iranian team away in Tehran, and on March 26 they will host an opponent from Iran in a home match in Ashgabat.
At the moment, in the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament, the Turkmenistan national team ranks third in group “E”. In the first round, Turkmen football players lost to Uzbekistan at home with a score of 1:3, and tied (2:2) away with Hong Kong in the second round.
