December 21 is a special date for all basketball fans. It was on this day in 1891 that the first basketball match in history was held. The game was invented by physical education teacher James Naismith, and most of the rules he wrote then are still relevant today.
Basketball is also popular in Turkmenistan. In recent years, Turkmen basketball players have achieved considerable success in the international arena. And these days, the Turkmenistan Cup games are taking place in the country, in which 6 men’s and 6 women’s teams take part.
The matches take place in the sports complex of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports. The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for December 23-24.
