The national football team of Turkmenistan in the second round of the group stage of the championship of the Central Asian Football Association - CAFA Nations Cup-2023 in Tashkent lost to one of the main favorites of the tournament - the national team of Uzbekistan with a score of 0:2.

Despite the defeat, the wards of Mergen Orazov retained the chances of qualifying from the group from the second place, which gives them the right to participate in the match for the bronze medals of the tournament.

In another match of group "A" the national teams of Tajikistan and Oman played a draw - 1:1.

Thus, after two rounds played, the quartet with six points is headed by the national team of Uzbekistan, followed by Tajikistan (2), Turkmenistan (1) and Oman (1).

To qualify from the group, Turkmen footballers need to defeat the Omani national team in the final match of the group stage of the CAFA-2023 Nations Cup, and it is desirable for Uzbekistan to beat Tajikistan.

We remind that the championship within the framework of the Central Asian Football Association is held from June 10 to 20 in Tashkent and Bishkek. Teams of Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Oman, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan take part in it.
