Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region in the field of transport and logistics was discussed during a videoconference.

As it is informed on the website of the Ministry of External Relations of the Astrakhan region, from the Turkmen side the representatives of the Agency for Transport and Communications, as well as subordinate enterprises and organizations took part in the event.

In accordance with the words of Ilya Volynskiy, Acting Minister of Industry and Natural Resources of the Astrakhan region, the international port Turkmenibashi is considered by Astrakhan in the capacity of the main point in the direction of the Central Asia.

During the negotiations, Aleksander Melnikov, the director of the trade sea port Olya, proclaimed readiness to implement mutual projects on the development of the auto-ferry line.

It is noted that the Turkmen side expressed interest in cooperation in this direction.

Deputy General Director of OAO “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan” Merdan Byashimov reported on the availability of necessary infrastructure facilities to increase cargo turnover between the Astrakhan region and Turkmenistan.

The head of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi, Seyitguly Bayseyidov, also reported on the port's readiness to increase the flow of goods.

The representatives of the Agency for Transport and Communications expressed readiness to provide their vessels for the establishment of a regular Olya – Turkmenbashi ferry line with an increase in cargo turnover.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue consultations on cooperation in this direction.
